Privacy Policy
Mabby is a road-trip planner for iPhone. This policy explains what Mabby collects, why, who it goes to, and how to delete it. The short version: Mabby has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. You can plan trips without an account. If you create one, we keep only what's needed to sync your trips and let you plan with other people.
What stays on your phone
- Your trips. They are saved on your device, including their recent versions.
- Saved places you share into Mabby from other apps.
- Your starting point. If you allow location access, Mabby takes your approximate location once, while you're using the app, to plan from where you are. Mabby never uses your location in the background, and never stores it on our servers.
What we store if you create an account
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address, or your Sign in with Apple identifier | To sign you in and send confirmation and password-reset codes |
| Handle, display name and chosen character | So people you plan with can recognise you |
| Trip preferences | So your plans suit you on every device |
| Trips you sync, including trip names, stops and notes, with their versions | To keep your trips in sync and let you restore earlier versions |
| Who is on each trip, and their role | So you can plan together |
| Reports you make about another person's name | To review them and keep Mabby safe |
| An Apple sign-in token, if you use Sign in with Apple | So we can revoke Mabby's access when you delete your account |
Your account data is stored with Supabase, our database host, in the United States (Oregon).
Services that help plan your trip
To find places and routes, Mabby sends search terms and map coordinates to the services below. None of these requests include your name, email or account.
- Apple (MapKit): place search, and turning your starting point into a place name.
- Google (Places): place details and photos near your route.
- OpenStreetMap data services (Overpass): places near your route, sometimes through our own server, which caches results for up to 7 days.
- OSRM: driving routes between stops.
- US National Park Service and Recreation.gov: parks and campgrounds near your route.
- Anthropic, if trip narration is turned on: place names and your trip's style (for example interests and party size), used to write short descriptions. No account information is sent.
We also use an email delivery provider to send sign-in codes to your email address, and Apple to sign you in if you choose Sign in with Apple.
Each of these providers handles the data under its own privacy terms. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Tracking
Mabby doesn't track you across apps or websites. It doesn't use your advertising identifier, and it contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting software.
How long we keep it
- Account data is kept until you delete your account.
- Trips you delete are hidden right away and fully removed when you delete your account.
- Cached place results on our server contain no personal data and expire after about 7 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app. This permanently deletes your account, your profile, your synced trips and their versions, and reports you made. On trips you shared, your name is removed from the record of who added people or wrote a version. If you used Sign in with Apple, we ask Apple to revoke Mabby's access. Trips saved on your phone stay there until you delete them or remove the app. You can also email support@mabby.app to have us delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- Use Mabby without an account.
- Turn location access off at any time in iPhone Settings; you can type a starting point instead.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing support@mabby.app. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honour them.
Children
Mabby isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects how your personal data is used, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
